She was graduated from the Department of International Relations at İstanbul University (IU) Faculty of Economics. She started to study postgraduate education and work as a research associate at the Faculty of Economics, Department of International Relations in 1997. She assumed the titles of the doctor in 2003, associate professor in 2009 and professor in 2014. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu who has studies on political sociology and Turkish political life has lately focused on migration studies. She held the deanship of the IU Faculty of Political Sciences between 2010 and 2017. Komsuoğlu who worked as a visiting professor at USA Emory University and California University, Berkeley has articles in prominent national and international academic journals, books and tasks in research projects. Furthermore, she conducts the duty of IU Education Coordinator.
